A miracle!
I don't know what caused it, but Sam slept 8.5 hours last night!!!! I kept waiting for him to wake up and I kept thinking that something was wrong, but he was just sleeping peacefully!! He was in bed with us - I cheated - but he was still asleep!! He was doing so well I didn't want to move him to his bed and mess up his sleeping groove. Tonight I will try to get him to sleep in his own bed.

3) wow. Caution- some doctors, right or wrong, would admonish you never to let that happen this early in his life. Have you researched this? I am unaware of a doctor would who be comfortable with a baby sleeping through the night this young. Just checking.

Sorry I missed you in W-S. I got here mid-day Monday and am going back Wed. night. I saw your parents, briefly. Not much news to report.

4) Yay for Sam - he let mom get some sleep (kinda - I am sure you kept waking up wondering why he had not woken up) Hope it happens again tonight

5) That's great! As long as Sam is at a certain weight, most doctors are all for babies sleeping through the night! Dylan was around 8 weeks or so when she did, and our pediatrician thought it was great, he just said not to brag too much to the other moms. I know it is a long and hard road for some; the patterns you establish now will be set for a long time. Good luck getting him into his own bed! Swaddling tightly helped us. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!

6) I remember the first time Laurie slept through the night. She was only a few weeks old but was ove 8lbs at birth. I was afraid to go in the room. She always was a good sleeper. Matt on the other hand did not sleep all night until he was a year old.

7) I freaked out when Brennan finally slept through the night. I couldn't sleep because I kept waking up checking on her. Ironic, isn't it?

8) Galvin slept through the night on a regular basis (more that 50% of time = regular basis in my dictionary) after he was 18 months old; Gwen has yet to hit this milestone, but when she's not sick or teething (about 5% of the time these days), she'll sleep for six consecutive hours. I'll take that. Oh, and Galvin slept in our bed until he was 7-8 months old and Gwen until 11-12 months; they both napped in their cribs during the day, though. Galvin's transition to crib overnight was very easy--one night. Gwen's took about a week.

Again, good luck with everything, and don't be afraid to go with what works for you and Sam (and Jason)!!

9) I followed the "rules" with my first for about 3-4 months. She would go from dead asleep to blood curdling screams. She did NOT cry it out. I said screw the rules and put her in bed with me. Problem solved! However she is now almost 10 and STILL tries to sneak into bed with me. lol The only time she succeeds is when Daddy is on the road. I am so used to her being in bed with me I don't even know it until I wake up in the morning. It doesn't bother me though. I'm glad you got some sleep.

10) I just told Jim the other night that I'm sure it will be bittersweet when Liam finally sleeps through the night. I'll be a wreck wondering if or when he'll wake up but I know I'll be ecstatic that he's sleeping through the night. For now though, I'm just glad that he's sleeping some at night. Those first couple of nights were rough. Liam and I just sat in the rocking chair and stared at each other.
