year later add-on

Its crazy that it was a year ago this weekend that I drove with Ben out to Springfield for him to stay and move there. He already wrote a blog on this but I had more pictures I wanted to add. I remember when he got the job in Springfield it was a place I had never even thought about before, and now its funny a year later that I feel some sort of constant communication and connection to Springfield because of Humzoo and all the bloggers from there!
But ya it is just nuts to reflect on how much has happend in the last year...and how quick it has been!
We left at 10:30pm and drove straight till the next morning
When we finally got to Springfield...this was the first thing I saw and took a picture of.
This and the smoke stacks of the big plant.

There were more corn fields than I had ever seen before

We tried to see all of the touristy sites and figure out what Springfield was all about

rubbing the nose seemed like what you were suppose to do!

I was impressed by all the different things in Springfield

We thought to go out to eat meant to go downtown (later discovering the other part of the city with restaurants and stores)...but the only place we found open to get food was the Hilton
and there was a fun band

That's all...it's just funny to reflect on my opinion of Springfield going there for the first time last November, then comparing to my second and third trips and even to my opinion now which is so shaped by all the Springfield humzooers! I'm a fan!
I actually have a regret related to Springfield too.... from the first touristy guide I read about Springfield I always wanted to go to the Dana Thomas House...each of my trips out we never got around to it...and now it's closed!

1) Amber, you still have a chance!! According to their website they are open for tours Wednesday - Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm through November 30, 2008.

I didn't even know they were closing. I've been through once and lived here (or near here) since I was 5. I might have to try to go again before its too late!

2) Yes, Dana Thomas house is gorgeous! And it's quite sad it's closing - I used to live across from Springfield Clinic on the 7th Street side, so I was pretty close, too, Ames.

3) You haven't said how things are going for you-how much longer and do you have any plans after graduation? Long distance realtionships are difficult but this blog sure helps. I know you are proud of Ben and his accomplishments, the money he raised for the cancer fight and the compassion that comes through in his stories, (Ben are your ears burning?)

4) Great pictures Amber. I am looking forward to returning to Springfield in May or June and visiting Chicago too!
