Like daycare... with air tools.
Due to popular demand (Eyepulp IS popular, right?), here's more almost blogworthy stuff.
Part of my job description, other than making lots of noise, hogging all of the compressed air, finding new and creative place to park stuff, and making BIG messes is watching over 3 of my co-workers (commonly referred to as 'the children').
One has been here a little over a year. He graduated from high school this year and is going into the Air Force later this year, so he doesn't have much motivation to improve here. He has potential and a lot of ability, but he was taught well by his parents not to do any more than you absolutely have to and does so at every opportunity.
Two has been here 2 years, and was really good help about the time he graduated last year. Then he slowly started going downhill until he got a girlfriend who magically trapped his brain in her underwear. now he obviously hates coming to work, doesn't want to be here, and could really care less about what he or anyone else is doing. The only reason he's here now is because he knows if he quits his parents (who have jobs at MoDot and the Post Office and the work ethic to match) will send him off to tech school.
Three has been here almost a year. He would have graduated a few years ago, if he hadn't gone through the 8th grade 8 times and finally dropped out. He is decent help most of the time as long as you don't forget that he's dumber than a bag of hammers (no better way to explain blowing the end off of 3 fingers with a handful of snap-n-pops) and give him work accordingly. Most of the time he tries pretty hard, because he at least does know his options in the world are sorta limited.
But other than the daycare part, I love my job :)

And I'm not THAT bad to work with... I've only came really close to making one of them cry once.
