Do the twist!

I'm pretty sure Johnny (the guy that drives this behemoth) bit the end off his toothpick whenever this happened. I'm still trying to figure out how it happened on a flat, level road and about 3 tons of gravel left in it. (It will legally hold 22 tons) Now it's sitting in the lot at work waiting for the insurance company to look at it so we can get started finding out what all is bent, broke, twisted, etc.

1) I thought maybe that was one of those trucks that got tossed by a tornado. Scary something that big and heavy can topple!

3) My office facd a railraod crossing and I watched trucks do this on a regular basis. They finally fixed it but as you say there doesn't seem to be an obvious reason here.

4) Looks like someone sneaked up and gave the truck a tickle.

5) Is this the same road that's in Jim's "weird things I see" photos? The one that you shouldn't let your GPS take you on. :)

7) Hmmm...we had something similar to this happen to one of the delivery trucks when I used to work for Dixon Fisheries. From the looks of things on the left side of the photo, I'm thinking he ran off the road while concentrating on said toothpick, and then, overcorrected coming back up, thus shifting the load and toppling over.

8) PS. My three-year-old son, Galvin, said "Oh no, that truck fell down. They need to get it up before it falls down again."

9) The official verdict is that the hoist ram broke where it attaches to the truck, and gravity reasserted itself. I also think the way the hoist was built was totally ignorant, but that's besides the point. The fact that some of the rock was sticking in the right side of the bed when it was raised all the way didn't help matters either.

And yes, we have lots of roads around here that you don't have to be crazy to drive on... but it helps.
