Music to Shop To
I'm working on an article on how merchants go about choosing the music that they play in their stores and need to find some subjects to interview. Do any of you know of a local (Springfield, IL) business, preferably not a chain, that is particularly noteworthy in their use of in-store music to appeal to their target demographic or to help enhance the store's ambience? It could be any type of business, from restaurants or boutiques, to accounting firms or hardware stores.

Thanks,
Dan

1) That unique record place downtown comes to mind or how about Penny Lane - watch yourself in there. That restaurant, Indigo, had some interesting music the last time we were there, but that was years ago.

2) The last time we ate at Little Saigon they were playing Asiany sounding tunes, then about halfway through our soup we all came to the realization they were playing the Tennessee Waltz... I'd be very interested to know how they choose their playlist. Plus their food is awesome so research is a good excuse to eat there.

What a coincidence. I ate at Indigo last week and talked to the manager about the article. And my editor mentioned Little Saigon for their unique mix of Asian music and golden oldies. I guess I'll have to make return trips to both.

Thanks,
Dan

4) Little Saigon is one of our favourite places too. Actually I have a gift coupon to there so a visit might come soon.
