The Hairdressers Mirror....Enemy #1

I got a hair cut yesterday. Nothing fancy, just plain old "trim the ends, leave it long, just take the split stuff" kind if thing. So it didn't take long. But it was agonizing.

I hate getting my hair cut. I love how it feels afterwards - fresh, healthy, lots of bounce and life. It's the sitting the the chair that really gets under my skin.

You see, I hate the mirrors at the salon. I don't know why, except to say that I look horrible in them. I sit there in that darling little cape with wet hair and she cuts. So what? I see myself in the mirror every single morning with wet hair. What's the BIG DEAL!?!???

I look like an entirely different person sitting there. I pick apart my facial features and decide that I look like my aunt (who is 70). I suddenly can't stand my chin, or my mouth, or, anything really. But why now?

Blame it on the cape? Some fantastically ugly-fying mirror that they have taken from the fun house? What is it????

2) It's not you, it's the horrible florescent lighting. I think it makes everyone look like they are jaundice. When I look at my hairstylist, who is quite attractive, she looks bad too. I pity her having to look at her image all day long in that bad lighting. It doesn't seem to bother her tho. And how about dressingroom mirrors? Talk about fun house mirrors...yikes! TJ Maxx is the worse. I just buy clothes there and take them home and if they don't fit I take them back. You'd think stores would have flattering mirrors so that women would look good in everything.

3) Haha. I've said this before. I was told it was the kind of lights and where they are placed because it helps the stylist see your hair better.

But I hate looking at myself in those mirrors with that lawful light. I look like a zombie.

4) I agree completely, Leslie. Salons and dressing rooms make me feel so ugly. Clothing stores would probably sell more clothes if they just invested in quality lighting.

5) I don't mind the mirror, not because I adore my "Plain Jane" face, but because I'm totally nearsighted, and my gal, Rita, makes me take my glasses off while she's cutting. Voila!

6) I hate the salon mirrors!!! I actually have avoided going to one for almost 3-4 years and have people I know cut my hair...and thats one of the reasons!

7) I look horrible in salon mirrors too. I hate it. I have actually put on MORE makeup before getting my haircut just so I don't have to look at the dark circles under my eyes.

I always look like a drowned rat!
