Encouraged: This is the Day

I am encouraged. This is the day. I generally hate Mondays. Well, to be perfectly honest I hate this one as well. But I am approaching it differently because I know - this one is it!

Every Monday I hope that my weightloss will finally begin. I read up on it. I plan for it. I schedule my days around it. And alas, by Friday I feel disillusioned and disappointed again. Not today.

Today is about changing my mind about being thin. It's about believing that it is going to work - envisioning myself as I "was".

I got on Humzoo this weekend as a place to talk to myself. I needed a cheerleader in this journey, and if no one else was going to do it, it was going to have to be me! However, when I logged back in a mere hour later and found 8 people out there in the same boat with me - I believed. Eight people might not sound like a crowd or an epidemic, but it was 8 people who were at the same moment in time searching for an answer, just like me.

I read all of your comments with great interest. It is a comfort in some regard to know that I am not the only one facing these battles. This greatest common thread that I see is that no one has an answer. Sure it's easy for the "know it alls" to pipe in that the only way to lose weight is to burn more that you take in. Well, I'll be jiggered. DUH! If it were only that easy. It simply is NOT.

Secondly, what works for me, may not work for you. What works for you may not work for the next guy. There are intrinsically infinite possibilities in each and every body that may be prohibiting us from losing weight. Don't get discouraged just because someone says that you should just eat less and get off your butt. Well, lah-dee-dah. They told us that in grade school. Tell me something new. At 1300 calories a day, 1-2 hours at the gym 5 days a week, 3 strength training sessions and heavy cardio - I dare you to tell me I'm not already doing that. But guess what? I'm also not losing weight. Precious little theory busted.

Stick around guys. I want to hear how you're doing and what you're trying. All I know is I have to have faith when all else fails!!! (and a buddy wouldn't hurt...)

8) Good luck Fit, I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress. For what it's worth, many more people read blogs and DON'T leave comments than people who do. I'm sure you'll have a lot of people checking back to hear how it's going. I know I will. Hang in there!
