Dog for Loan
We are looking for some kind souls who may be interested in boarding Sam for a week at the end of July. The usual suckers....er...I mean people are away that week. We could board him at a kennel but he'd have to stay in a cage most of the time and wouldn't get much attention.

Although around 110 lbs, he is incredibly well behaved and very friendly. He can get excited easily and forgets how big he is as his entire rear end does a jitterbug.

Here are some movie examples:

He's great with other dogs: He'll play but won't keep hassling the other dog if they get tired or fed up. If he gets tired he won't get irritated if the other dog is humping him.

We would have paid the other people $10 a day for a total of $70 so if that sounds like a good deal reply here and we can talk.

1) If I didn't have 3 dogs and 2 small children already, George, we would love to keep him for you. Sorry!

2) No problem. I'm not trying to guilt anyone into watching him, I just think he'd have a better time with a family and because somebody will get a kick out of him.

3) We will totally do it as long as he's cool with doing his business on a leash. We don't have a fence, but I do a lot of walking.

I can provide a reference. We kept Carol Votsmeier's dog alive for several weeks.

4) Sounds great, I'll talk to Dave tomorrow.
Dave has met Sam and I'm not sure how keen he is on him.
Sam sniffed his crotch lots.

5) Glad you'll have someone to care for him while you're away - we would've gladly taken him for you, though we're an hour away. Oh and Courtney, I think I know Carol Vostmier...well, her ex anyway.

6) Sounds like you have a taker. What happens to the cats while you are gone? He will probably love Ethan and Mia. That breed seems to adore kids.

7) He's wonderful with Lucy....mostly. Sometimes he'll barge past her and she'll fall over. Nothing malicious, just clumsy.

8) Dave has semi-vetoed Courtney's offer so we are still open to takers.

9) I wish Greg's rot would get along with other dogs. I'd offer to take him in a heartbeat. I asked my parents too, their labs would love having another dog around for a bit. But they are going to the gone for a week at the end of July.

11) Hence my expression "semi-vetoed".
He said he'd do it if we can't find anyone else but we want him to stay with a family that really wants him.
He seemed concerned that Mia is afraid of dogs. He's wonderful with Lucy but, like I said, he can be a little like a bull in a china shop at times.....like when someone comes to the door or if he sees a rabbit.

12) If you're heading North for your out-of-town trip, please note that we have two or three "Doggie Daycare" & boarding facilities here in Bloomington-Normal that you might consider - we use them for our pooches when we're out of town. They are great! Here are some links, just in case you're interested:

Many of them have scheduled activities with the dogs, pools, "Yappy Hours," etc. It's quite a hoot! Good luck!!

13) Thanks, we might consider that. We really wanted a family for him, but activities he would love.

14) I wish we could have Sam come to visit us, but I'm worried that we don't have a whole lot of room for him. Our tubby pug tends to take up more room than we have already. If you can't convince someone to watch him, just have Sam give them the puppy dog eyes.

15) No, we'll just have to leave him in the back yard with a 48lb bag of dog food.
