Doula

I think Kati and I may have found our doula. We interviewed a woman tonight who seemed very supportive of what we have in mind for our baby's birth. We have been learning about "baby-friendly" hospitals and found that our local hospital is ranked 12th nation-wide as baby-friendliest (I'm not sure when the babies actually vote, but...). We are starting to get very excited.

I have no kids, but all my friends do. I hear that is one of the biggest reliefs is to find a doula (or the like) and a hospital that supports your birthing style and is willing to be flexible. Way to go guys!

I loved having a doula for my first birth. I am glad you found someone you like. And super-glad that your hospital is so baby-friendly!

They say having a doula raises positive outcomes of births by a ton. We're really excited about ours!

I have heard doulas are great. My doula was named Denny and he sat on the computer blogging during the childbirth. That is what they are supposed to do right? You need someone there to write every moment down. Make sure you write out your birth plan, but don't get disappointed if things don't go exactly as planned. As long as mom and baby are healthy that is all that matters in the end.

Congrats! Sounds like Denny can do the job if this one doesn't work out. :)

I am sure Joe will have more time now to blog about our daughter while our doula helps me out. I think that is why we are getting her, so Joe can share shifts and blog on his downtime.
Kidding. We are both so excited to have her. We talked about it at length for weeks and have been really weighing the decision to have a doula. It is something we both feel very confident about and will make childbirth a little less scary for both of us! Neither one of us has been through it before and having this woman with us and on the same page is really going to make the difference for us both!

When your the parent-to-be, there is no downtime. blogging is going to be the last thing on joes mind.

Well, unless he can blog one-handed! Because that other hand is going to either be super busy or sleeping. :O)
