The New Garden

It's funny how one home improvement task leads to another. Now that the waterfall is finished we decided to continue clearing the back of the hillside of overgrown brush and weeds. That's a little misleading. Actually Brian who built the waterfall is doing the work. I rush home from my job every day to check his progress. It is definately taking shape nicely. He still has more wall to build and top soil to bring in, but all in all it is going to be such a fun summer of planting and growing. I can't wait until the first seeds go in the ground. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise that Brian built a stone bench on the top of the hill for resting. The same as Handelman Falls, all of the rocks were found on our property. That is a huge savings because the cost of purchasing and delivering the rocks would have added thousands of dollars to the final cost. Here is how it looks so far.

1) Can't wait to see the finished results. I love all the rock. It will definitely be a retreat. I love the stone bench too.

2) Wow... that looks great. Can't wait to see it finished. I am envious (in some ways) of all that awesome rock that you have. Okay... I was going to say, and that bench rocks. And really, NPI!!

4) I love the Asian influence and the beautiful rustic contemporary style of your home. You are going to have a wonderful haven to come home to. Keep us updated as you get the new plants in. Brian deserves a gold medal-I put just 2 tons of rock out as border for some of my gardens and it wore me out. I hope he has a strong back.I would love to have a waterfall and a koi pond but we have too many critters who would want to play in it.

6) Ah-that little project put me down with a ruptured disc but I was getting ready for Fletcher's wedding and its hard to get help. I have since been trading with a neighbor and I have sworn off doing anything that might put me down with my back-at least I am trying not to-by the way the cake is in the oven but I may have a little problem-my cake pan is smaller than my new spring form-might have to get creative-LOL

7) Cool about the cake. Nice thing about chocolate ganache--it will help with any needed ... uh... patching. :) You could trim the cheesecake down too. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

9) Apparently, you didn't love Ben and me enough to give us a nice backyard while we lived there. :)

10) Prettiness waiting to happen. The dog looks like he/she needs and extra pair of legs between the other two sets.

12) Good one Ben! Yes Scott was busy reading Goose Bumps, watching the X Files, reading comics and playing video games in his youth. I don't have any memories of him outdoors.
