100 Calorie Packs

I know better than to go grocery shopping when I am starving and watching my weight. It's a lesson in will power I sometimes fail. I usually avoid the cookie aisle because of my weakess for anything laden with sugar and empty calories. Today I accidentally made a wrong turn and found myself face to face with oreos and pecan sandies. I took a deep breath and shifted my eyes to the floor. On their way down they spotted the same words over and over...100 calorie pack. What the heck? I couldn't believe how many cookies come in these potion controlled packages.

As I perused the store the words 100 calorie packs kept jumping out at me all over the place. Popcorn too? Cheetos? No way!
I don't even remember putting them in my cart but when I got home...

Now I just need for LGrant to come up with 100 calorie cake bites. Although it might actually be cake bite.

1) They actually have 100 calorie packs of the brownie bites. They're pretty good. I love it when someone has figured out portion size for me...because I can't seem to stick to it myself. If it's in a package though, I feel like a fatty opening a second one.

2) I think they are great for packing lunches but I probably would open 2 if I was hungry enough so I don't buy them.

3) Gosh...How did I miss the brownie bites? I guess I need to go back to the store. I agree 100% with your comment about only having one. Tonight is popcorn night. Kettle corn, my favorite.

4) I love kettle corn...although the fat free stuff just isn't as good.

5) I opened a cookie one on the ride home and there weren't a whole lot of cookies in the bag, but at least I got a taste of something sweet.

6) That's usually all I need to satisfy myself, but if I have a big bag, I'll eat the big bag.

7) Ha..me too. I can eat a half a bag of oreos in one sitting. Oink oink.

8) Those little Chessmen cookies I put on the banana pudding came in those 100 packs. I agree I couldn't imagine how few cookies could make 100 calories but because of their cute little size, they seemed more plentiful than I imagined. Packaging does help some--but so does a plan to stop with one. Harder to do than find the 100-packs! :)

9) So exactly how many boxes did you buy? I have seen these at the store but have never tried them. I still have 3 boxes of thin mint girl scout cookies in the freezer. . . don't tell Rob. I find that if I can't see it I won't eat it. I'm saving them for when you come to visit.

10) Yeah, I'm not fond of the ingredients in most packaged foods, like MSG, "natural flavors" (which may or may not contain MSG), partially hydrogonated anything and high-fructose corn syrup. This stuff'll kill ya'! But it is probably better tasting than rice cakes.

11) I dig the Ritz 100 calorie pack - it's like a party mix. And the Chips Ahoy! 100 cal packs. (although, Dr. Oz would totally poo poo them because they all have hydrogenated oils) sigh. They have quite the selection of 100 cal packs there.

12) I have never seen quite so many 100 calorie packs. I don't normally buy them, but I did buy some of the Cheetos ones for our trip to Aruba and they were really yummy!

14) I still have Thin Mints, also. We've gotten rid of all the Humzoo army...thank goodness because those cupcakes were dangerous. I could've eaten them all. I'm now working through a quart of fresh strawberries. When I have the fruit, I'll eat it...but when there's junk food in the house, I forget the healthy snacks exist.

15) Girl scout thin mints wouldn't last 3 days in my house. They are totally
addicting. I love them frozen too.

16) Leslie, if you ever want to make homemade "faux" GS Thin Mints, I have a recipe (uses Ritz crackers...no less!)
