Picking Baking Eating

I love summer! I headed a few minutes down the road today to March Farm. It is one of a number of "pick your own" farms in our area. Bluberries are now locally at their peak.

The farm has hundreds of bushes.

I couldn't wait to make some muffins.

For my next project I didn't have to go any further than the backyard. My daughters favorite food is pesto tossed on pasta. I usually grow a lot of basil.

The hardest part od the process is soaking, spinning and setting the basil out to dry off.

I have a great recipe where the basil, parmesean cheese, garlic and toasted pine nuts all get tossed into the food processor with a little olive oil.

Then I fill ice cube trays and freeze. One cube is enough for 8 oz. of pasta.

Dinner was pretty tasty tonight.

5) WOW! What a basil plant. Mine is two teeny leaves that are barely making it. Yours is truly one to envy!

6) Angi, When my kids were small the meal of the day was pizza, spagetti or grilled cheese. And a garden? Ha...no time or energy. I still think the best time of my life was raising my children and watching them grow up and become interesting people. Enjoy every second because it goes by very very quickly.

14) That's just wrong, Robin! Check out your local Costco and see if you have some Oregon ones there. They are wonderful and I know my co-worker's husband works at a company that supplies them to the Costco stores (other than Oregon who gets Canadian ones instead--how dumb is that?)
