The Big 5-0

This is blog #50. I can't believe I hit this milestone. Hip Hip Hurray!

The title of this 50th blog is "My New Favorite Local Artist"

About a month ago one of my husband's patients invited us over for dinner. Herb and his wife Connie are in their eighties (he's 86 and she's 82). I was not terribly enthusiastic about going because I thought it would be a very boring evening. WRONG! The minute I walked through the door or their spectacular home I was totally enchanted. They are the most interesting couple. Herb just retired as a financier. He didn't want to retire, but the company he was working for closed. This man actually commuted to New York City several times a week, 2 hours each way! Their home is filled with Connie's artwork, but also with furniture she painted using interesting and often fanciful designs. Connie is a very talented artist. After a wonderful meal, Connie took us to her art studio, a gorgeous converted barn on their property, to see more of her work. All of her paintings make me smile. She paints the wooden frames in interesting designs to compliment each painting. Yesterday my husband and I went to the opening of her show at a local art studio in Washington, CT. I would LOVE to own one of her paintings. I'll need to start saving though because they sell for $3,000.00 and up. If I win the lottery I'll be the proud owner of an original Connie Aronson. Here are a few photos from the gallery show:
