Friday, December 25th, 2009"Tramping" in New Zealand Here are a few of pictures I took during my recent trip to New Zealand. It is an amazing place full of wonderous sights and friendly people. It's a loooong trip...18 hours in the air from the east coast, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. We flew from JKF to LA to Aukland (North Island), spent the night in Aukland and then flew to Queenstown (South Island) the next day.
Lake Wanaka
Trail to Rob Roy Glacier
Wild parrots called Kias greeted us at the top.
Lake Marian was an interesting hike 2 hours straight up a rocky ravine.
There is no way to capture the Milford Sound in pictures, but I tried.
We came over a hill and saw a sea of purple. As we got closer we realized it was a meadow with thousands of Lupine.
For our final adventure a thrilling jet boat ride through the canyons got our hearts pumping. In addition to topping 55 MPH, the boat did 360 degree turns. It was a blast.
We only saw a very small part of New Zealand. I hope there will be a part 2 someday.
Yes to Sandy because I love travelling with you. Please don't tell Robin that we are going without her...Tee Hee
