Cigarette & A Mini Skirt

I set off today on a solo hiking adventure to a State Park 30 minutes away called Mascedonia Brook in the town of Kent. My legs were a little rubbery from hiking several days after work this past week. However I definately subscribe to the theory that anything worth doing is worth over doing. I had forgotten how tough this mountain was, especially the 1400 ft elevation gain and challenging rock scrambles.

I was happy to see signs of spring along the way.

After climbing straight uphill for over an hour I sat on a rock enjoying the 75 degree sunny day and gave my legs a little pep talk that they only had to carry me about 15 minutes more to the summit. Suddenly around the bend I see a man and woman making their way down. He has a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth and she (all 200 + lbs) is dressed in a denim mini skirt. I listened for the sound of the helicopter that must have brought them to the top and heard only silence.

The panaramic view from the top was great and definately make me forget about my weary legs. At least it was all downhill back to the car.

And the best part of the day? A stop at the Belgium chocolate store on the way home

Where I found this adorable vase/candy dish.

4) I know you won't believe this but I only had one piece and that was after dinner. I'm into deprivation and self torture. When do you leave for Vegas?

5) I love this park!!!! I always forget the name of it but it is where I grew up hiking!!!! Is it the place where you can cross the water on a cement-like path that is sometimes under the water?

6) It's a pretty big park. I'm not sure about the cement path. I did notice one new foot bridge across one stream.

8) Leslie, this looks awesome! I've never been hiking but reading your blog and looking at your pics really makes me want to. Especially with the weather turning all nice, all I want to do is be outside. I wish you got a picture of the mini-skirt cigarette couple. Er, on second thought, maybe it's better that you didn't.

9) I am surprised that you did not tell Rob to put out the cig and also mention to Robin that Omar the Tent Maker has a sale on this weekend.

Great pics and story. I will have to spend more time on the appearance of my sight. That of course means that I will have to spend less time on the golf course so I might be a while until I am up to speed.

11) It crossed my mind to take a picture but there was no way to do it without it seeming very strange. I kep thinking to myself on the way up how lucky I was that the chick in the mini skirt wasn't scrambling up the rocks in front of me. It could have been a pretty ugly site! :(
