Hospital Update
Hello humzoo!I'll try to update as much as possible throughout this process. It'll be much easier now that I have my laptop!!
At 11:30 pm last night I passed a rather large blood clot which scared the doctor. He tends to be easily panicked and jumps right to Pitocin induction. So, having said that, at 11:45 last night he came into my room and told us he wanted to do a Pit line and induce me. I politely told him no. He was shocked. I asked him point blank if the baby was okay, to which he answered yes. The heartrate was strong and steady. After a long, difficult, polite fight I told him that I wanted to sleep, be left alone and we'd discuss things more in the morning. He was very insistant on giving me a Pit line first thing today.
Okay....this morning around 9:30 I talked with the new resident doc on staff for today. We chose Cervidil, a prostaglandin insert, to see if that would start labor. Then we agreed that my water would be broken....THEN if after several hours of non productive labor/contractions/etc. we'd discuss a low dose of Pitocin.
The Cervidil seemed to work. About 2:20 pm today contractions started and by 3:30 they were 5-10 mins apart. I decided to get some rest. The lead doctor, Dr. Strong, came in. I'd never met him before. He's fantastic! He has the best sense of humor!! At 3:30 I fell asleep. I had some contractions that woke me. And they are back so I know they are "real".
He said the baby was a normal size, not too big and that everything looked WONDERFUL!!
Maybe tonight will be when we'll meet our little one?
