Sweet boy, I don't even know where to start. Your life started on April 11th, on my chest and in your daddy's arms. You had to spend 5 days in the NICU, but mummy now understands why. Your daddy spent the first night with you, and was the first to feed you. I had you all to myself for 39 weeks, this was your special time with daddy. We got to finally bring you home on the 15th.
Your Nonna and Papaw were here when you came into our world. They love you so much and adored holding you, kissing you and telling you stories. You had your first doctor appointment on the 18th and weighed 8 pounds 11 oz. You attended your first small group meeting with me and daddy on the 20th. On April 21 you had your circumcision, which healed very quickly. Daddy and I discussed it a lot, and prayed about it. Your Nonna and Papaw were here through it all as support for us. They left just before Easter. You were almost 2 weeks old. Easter was your first time at church.
We had you all to ourselves during your third week of life. You were already sleeping 4 hours a night, with a few hiccups here and there. That was the week when you had your first photo session. You were a real champ and cooperated so well with the photographer. You were dressed, undressed, and played with for hours without complaint! AND you only peed without your diaper on once!
Your Mamaw and Papaw came to see you, too. They brought all kinds of gifts for you, special homemade gifts that came from their friends. Your daddy told me that all he ever wanted was to see his daddy hold you, his son. On that last day it finally happened. Your daddy was so happy! We even got pictures, which never happens cause your Papaw hates having his photo taken. You, Noah, broke him down and caused him to do 2 things he usually wouldn't do. You really are a miracle baby!
You already smile so big. It starts as a smirk, then both corners go up, then you drop your jaw and crinkle your nose and eyes. It is the most precious thing we've seen! We nurse and cuddle for hours everyday; those are moments I cherish and soak up. Last week you laughed out loud. You are finding your voice and are being slowly introduced to tummy time. You love to cuddle and nap on daddy's chest. You prefer to sleep on your tummy and have started sleeping 6 hours a night. You really ARE a miracle baby for that!
All of your adopted aunts and uncles from church have just fallen in love with you. Strangers are in awe of your beautiful red hair and sweet little face. You've been to restaurants, grocery stores and Wal-Mart. Through it all you were the best, most calm and well behaved baby. You have learned to grab hair and necklaces. And, like me, you snort; the only difference is you snort while nursing instead of laughing---for now anyhow!
We love you, Noah. We love to feel your skin against ours. We love to hear you find your voice, see you smile and even hear your toots (that always sound like a grown-up toot)!! No one can audibly fill a diaper like you can. I can only imagine the contests that will be happening when you get older. I would say I can't wait to experience all those things, but I can wait. I want to drink up every moment with you. I don't want to miss a smile, a cry, a laugh or one single squirm.
