Politics on Facebook?
I am not a political person. I'm am not a politically educated person. I will be THE first to admitt that. However, I am pretty sure that I can spot general stupidity when it presents itself.

On facebook a very young, ignorant friend posted some rediculous comment about Obama and the economic situation. I'll let the idoits have their "small wins" when it comes to blogging and commenting on such matters. However, I did post a little thought of mine that was, what I considered to be, fairly non abrasive in an attempt to make a mild point without really getting into the politics of it. Oh how I miss judged the other ignorant and stupid people on her list that would come in behind me and take the thread out to far left field.

What started as a "give the man more than 6 months to make changes" and "Rome wasn't built in a day" sort of flow, a woman commented "This is one president I will not feel sorry for when he pisses America off to the point that we have a Kennedy rerun.. Life is precious so I would never hope death on anyone, but he is killing the people with this depression and is going to bring war on our front steps!"

To which Richie responded with, what I thought was, a resonable and intelligent response in regards to the 1930's, the republican party, and the inevitable "pendulum" swing of things.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING POST WAS NOT CREATED BY ME, SIMPLY COPIED AND PASTED BY ME. CONTAINS EXTREMELY VULGAR LANGUAGE.

She felt it necessary to say, "Bush sucks Ashley, I will give ya that! I hated Bush too. I loved Bill Clinton and if that stupid Niggar had dropped out and let Hilary run, America would be prospering SOON if not already! We made a mistake voting a Niggar in office ESPECIALLY one who lived outside of our country most of his life and is a Muslim! America fucked up when we let anyone run and didn't select the right ones to run! Both our canidates sucked ass this time! I'm for team Hilary!"

I am not a mean person. But I could NOT let this go. I said. . .
"Kilista, I'm not usually a mean spirited or hurtful person, you can ask Tam or any of the rest of the family. But I am also all about breaking trends. . . on that note I will state simply this -- You have proven beyond the shadow of a doubt your stupidity and ignorance. For all the intelligence you are attempting to exude, you can't even spell nigger correctly. If, perhaps, you deliberately misspelled this word in an attempt to be PC---FAIL!"

What is wrong with people? I agree that everyone has the right to free speech. I belive that each of us has the right to their own opinion....This is the 4th of July after all....but damn.

2) The dumb and ignorant always get their say!! The thing of it is though, they don't say it very well and they say it too often!!

I am sorry to hear that Hillary knows the "secret" to making America prosper so quickly and won't share that idea with the rest of the world. For her withholding such knowledge from the rest of us I think she should have her U.S. citizenship taken away!

4) She deleted the thread after several more comments.

Here is my theory....if you want to play hardball you better be prepared to step up to the plate. If you plan to speak about things make sure you know what you're talking about. She got offended and had her feelings hurt when she backed herself into a corner and could not defend opinions or give sources for her information.

5) I wont post my political thoughts on Facebook. In fact, I dont like Facebook at all. I dont like sharing personal information with friends of friends of friends. Obviously, RickMonday is not my real name.

But you have to realize that some people take politics very seriously and if you are not careful it can get real ugly real fast.

If I had my way, I would like to go back to the old Lincoln/Douglas style of political conversation where ideas were discussed in depth over periods of days and weeks instead of under 30 seconds.

6) Good for you, Ashley, for speaking up. It's hard to do but there are times it needs to be done. The kind of ignorance that abounds out there (from seemingly intelligent people) is astounding -- not to mention the meanness and nastiness. Just because we Americans have the right to spout out whatever comes into our heads doesn't mean everyone else has to listen passively and keep quiet! You go, girl.

7) Well, I did tell Tam, in the nicest way possible, that she should have expected nothing less than would happened....a sort of "you asked for it" type thing. She said that Kilista is her future sister-in-law and likes to fight...so she deleted the thread in an attempt to "keep the peace".

Pppffft.
