Monday, March 9th, 2009First Concert So, I am now singing with a new Contemporary Christian Group called Sons of the Rock. I am the only female in the group. We had practiced together twice and had our first public appearance last night. I had a really good time, but I think a few more practices might have been wise. I only sing one song alone, and the rest I just do harmonies. The only problem was, on some of the songs I kept forgetting the lyrics. Luckily I wasn't singing lead. We sang at an Evangelical church. Now, I am Presbyterian, so I am not use to that kind of service.
I am all about freedom of religon, and everyone worshipping in the way that they feel most comfortable, however, I just have to say that I was very uncomfortable in that service last night. To me, and this is just my opinion, it all seems a bit staged. People screaming and crying, men falling out in the floor after a "laying of the hands" by the preacher. I did get excited while singing, and felt the presence of God, but in a different way. I would never condem anyone for the way they praise God and we will continue to sing wherever the Lord calls me to. Maybe I will start to feel more comfortable with it, with more experience. Let's just say it was an experience I will remember .
Sho Nuf HCJMS in the big town of York! My husband gets transferred alot with his job and ultimately I move too. HCJ is the BEST school I have ever been in and I have been in alot. I taught Science-prep for both grades as an elective. Anyone remember Mrs. Kennedy? That is me! I recognized some of the the kids from Will's NJHS induction. However I don't think I had the pleasure of teaching him. Maybe one day we will be back there again. Nice to know someone else from that area other than WillnBek.
I think it is a really great school too. Both of my older boys only went to 7th grade at HCJMS. They stayed at Hickory Grove for 6th grade.
