1st time in 14 years that more Americans consider themselves pro life
This really surprised me.

PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.

2) Yeah...I think I have all of these styles, but in different handle colors--black, orange and the blue.

3) I don't mind scissors. There have been many times when they have cone in handy. I guess you can call me Pro-Scissors.

4) I'm also very Pro-Scissors. I can't craft without my scissors. So, when you come around with the Pro-Scissor petition, I'll sign it.

5) I think the scissors are actually a reference to back alley abortions...which happens to be one reason a lot of people are pro-choice.

6) I figured that, Spike. It just seemed really odd to me.

8) Well, the topic was about abortion and scissors are used to commit abortions by plunging them into the babies brain. Very effective technique.I hope that answers your question.

9) Thanks for the link. It's very interesting that there has been such a big shift in just a year. At our church I've noticed there have been more pro life mentions and movements taking place lately, but didn't realize it was also spreading on a larger scale.
I was showing this to my husband and he had heard an argument that people are changing their definition of "pro-life" according to some cues from President Obama and that this survey might not mean what we think it means. However, with the shift occuring outside the Democratic-identifying voters, I'm not so sure.

10) In South Bend, Indiana today there are going to be many people who disagree with what can be a result of "The Pro-Life Doctrine".

11) Dana,

I am not sure that I am sold on it either. But Obama is certainly helping to raise the awareness.

12) Spike,

You confused coat hangers with scissors. Coat hangers are a symbol of back alley abortions where the mother suffered along with the baby. With scissors only the baby suffers. The mother is scott free!

13) I don't know that jamming scissors up into women necessarily leaves the mother "scott free". I'm also not sure that most women have an abortion and walk away "scott free" either.

14) Sarah,

They dont jam the scissors into the mother, they jam them into the baby.\
But yes, they did jam the coat hangers into the mother

15) They have to put them into the woman to get to the baby, as it is only a **partial** birth abortion. I'm not arguing for or against abortion, merely stating that I don't think most women walk away physically or mentally unscarred.

16) I agree Sarah S, I doubt they will ever be "emotionally" scott free. It is a brutal procedure, certainly more brutal in a back alley but even in the doctor's office, it's still brutal. It should be only a rare procedure rather than 1 million per year. Question is, how do we stop them from being simply a birth control method? I have met many folks who were adopted and they are very thankful that their biological mother chose life for them, especially because they were unable to choose.
