Water Aerobics
Any humzooers have any experience with water aerobics? It's been sweltering hot lately, and I'm a wimp when it comes to humidity. So I'm thinking rather than biking, I might as well use the pool.

I'm looking for any good movements, exercises, techniques, ANYTHING to help me get started on some kind of routine. I figure I can do it in the morning and/or after work. It's a 30 foot pool so there is plenty of room to do any walking or running type exercises. I'm just not sure where to start.

1) I think you should buy the foam weights and weight belts. We have some that the people before us left with our pool. It comes with instructions on different exercises.

2) I may have to try those. Do they seem to work pretty well? I'm worried that in a pool I won't really feel like I'm getting a workout.

3) I have never really used them, but I think if you use them correctly they do work well.

4) I'll have to keep my eyes open to see if I can find a not too expensive set this summer.

5) They use them at the gym I joined, but I haven't enrolled for a class in order to use them, yet.

6) Well if you try them, Angi, let me know what you think. I don't have any idea yet how much they are, but I hate spending money on a product that I don't know much about.

7) Water aerobics 2-3 times a week here. I did not think I would feel like I was getting a work out either - but you do - the key is to keep moving - all the time - get your heart rate up and move move move - you can use the foam weights to work on your arms in the water - you can also hold them out of the water and do exercises - but you must always keep moving.

8) Take a class!! Most places offer them. I used to love going.
We don't have a pool in the entire county so, swimming is out for me...I miss it.

9) I do water aerobics in the winter and really enjoy it. Most Y's will let you try a class. I have used weight belts but I think you get more out of it not using them and just tread water.

10) I've been just getting in every evening and doing whatever I can to keep my heartrate up for a while. Taking a class would be great, Emmy Ann and Dannie. However, I'm 45 minutes away from a Y or any other gym that would have classes like that. So, the cost of the class on top of the gas money a few times a week just isn't feasible while Greg and I are in our "paying off all debt mission."
