New Puzzle: Skyway Robbery
It's been a while since I posted an original puzzle. This one I'm particularly proud of. I was writing it for a puzzle competition, and I did it under the pressure of a deadline, but I think it came out nicely. As with most of my puzzles, there is an obvious solution to the puzzle and then a NOT so obvious *final* solution. The one for this puzzle is a common five-letter word. The steps to get there are hinted at in the introductory text. If anyone wants a hint, just ask!
-------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE TO PREVIOUS VIEWERS: You'll notice that this version is a bit different from the previous version. There was nothing wrong with the previous version. I just found that some of the clues were superfluous (for example, I gave the names of the five unmarried couples, but I didn't need to give ANY of their names).

And you're right, I don't think you're giving anything away. If the clues don't say what I mean them to say, then no one will be able to solve them. But I think I've said what I mean, and the clues reflect the grid.
You'll get the next puzzle when we get the next trivia quiz. :p
I'm not going to walk through the solving of the grid. It's probably of medium difficulty, but if you keep all clues in mind, filling the grid isn't that hard.
The grid looks like this when it's filled:
xxxxxx Thomas Ursula
xxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxx
Ron xxxxxxx Nadia
Travis xxxxxxx xxxxxx
Owen xxxxxxxx Georgia
xxxxxx xxxxxx Edward
Tabitha Samuel Olivia
xxxxxx xxxxxx Lisa
Ulrich xxxxxx Trina
Irena Olga Norm
Now, read the first letters of all the names in the order that they're found in the grid. You get the message TURN TO GET SOLUTION.
Turn the grid sideways. Ignore the names and focus only on the seats that are filled and the seats that aren't. This is what you see.
OXOXOOOOOO
OXXXXXOXXO
XXOOOXOXOO
If you read the introductory text, you may have noticed that there are two phrases that stand out: "in the dark" and "guessing blind".
The grid is actually a series of Braille letters. Read the Braille to figure out how the flight was (and also a description of Braille itself): BUMPY!
Believe it or not, some people solved this without any hints whatsoever. And a few of my high school students solved it with some gentle nudging. Now you see what kind of nerds I hang out with.
