Ida Mae - 17 months 11 days

I continue to make excuses as to why I haven't blogged about Ida Mae lately. I keep thinking I should write about her on certain milestones, 9 months 1 year and then all of the sudden, here she is 17 months and 11 days and I haven't written in ages. There doesn't need to be a special occasion, there are plenty of interesting things going on in our family every single day.
So, here we go...

Little Miss Ida, you have so many nicknames. Some of my favorite names for you are... monkey, peanut, miss mae, honey bunny, stinker and doozer.

humzoo

You are getting so grown up! You can, eat with a spoon (you still make a mess but 90 percent of the food makes it in your mouth), run, turn in circles, blow bubbles in the bathtub, pull your pants up and down, dance, stack blocks, empty and fill all kinds of containers and you're beginning to pretend.

You love music and are currently obsessed with a few songs; The Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, a song called "Magic" by a band called Rabbit, "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show and "40 Day Dream" By Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.

You love to dance fast and slow, wild and crazy and always full of rhythm. When the song you have in mind isn't the one being played you insist it be changed...it can be difficult to ascertain which song you're hoping for but can be sure its on your favorites list. When you dance to The Wheels on the Bus, you can do every motion associated with each line...my favorite is "the baby on the bus goes waa waa waa", you make fists with your tiny hands and rub your eyes like you're a crying baby.

You love to draw with a pen and crayons...most of the time on paper.

You are incredibly observant. You don't seem to miss a thing and catch on to language and ideas very quickly.

You are sweet. You love to give kisses and squishes (hugs) to almost everyone that asks and you're starting to ask for them from others.

You told me thank you and love you ("yuv yu") unsolicited the other day...melts this mama's heart.

You are brave. Just a few days before your first birthday you skinned your entire face after falling down the slide (not full size) at daycare...this is before you could walk. You'd climb the stairs and ride down the slide by yourself!

You are social. You love other people and are really interested in babies.

You have 12 teeth, 4 are molars.

Your fingernails grow really fast.

You love to play the drums with daddy.

We've had your hair cut twice and daycare cut it another time without asking.

You've got a temper. If things aren't going your way, you let us know!

You know how to run my iPhone. You love looking at photos and flash cards with animal noises.

You still nurse. You stopped nursing in the night just a few weeks ago. At first you put up a big fight but now you accept when I tell you "no" in the wee hours.

You love to wrap babies up in blankets. Really you'll wrap up just about anything (remote controls, balls, blocks, cars and hairbrushes) and carry them around saying "shh, shh, shh, nigh, nigh"

You understand so many words. You can SAY so many words. Its really fun to communicate with you...it can also be really frustrating for you when you can't explain what you want.

Your eyes are a very pretty blue, just like your daddy's.

You call me mama and daddy dada. Sometimes you call out for mada...pretty funny.

You love your grandmas and grandpas. Every time daddy and I are on the phone you think it's "Ampa". You love to say hello and have figured out Skype. It's so fun to give kisses through the computer.

You are about 22 pounds. You fit in 18-24 month clothes and still fit in some 12 month clothes.

You are a terrible sleeper. We're exhausted.

You love shoes!

You're getting taller, you're starting to be able to reach things we thought were, well, out of reach.

You love to play with pots and pans and cook "hot" things.

You love the snow. You cry and cry when it's time to come inside.

You can get on and off your rocking horse by yourself...he still bucks you off sometimes.

You like to brush your teeth.

You like showers.

You love broccoli and spinach. You do not love ricotta cheese. Some days you can eat an egg, 1/2 cup yogurt, some toast and fruit in one sitting.

Blueberries are by far your favorite thing to eat.

You've figured out that you like juice... its sweet, who wouldn't.

You wear cloth diapers 90% of the time.

You love the dogs and want to love and play with them all the time...they love you but more from a distance. They all tolerate you and Vern seems to directly correlate you to food. You incessantly say "no, nooooo, noooo" when she enters the kitchen while you're eating.

You're starting to potty train. You tell us when you need to go and then we "run, run, run" to the potty chair where you do your business. You like to tell the pee and poop "bye bye" and then run around without any pants on.

You blow kisses and give eskimo kisses with your nose.

You love it when daddy and I kiss your neck and chew on your ears.

You're starting to count and repeat the ABC's.

Unprompted the other day you pulled up my shirt and gave me a "razberry" on my belly.

When you find a coin in the house you run to your room to place it in your piggy bank...then you give the pig a kiss on the nose.

You love to play peek-a-boo and hide and go seek.

You love cars, trucks and tractors and make all the appropriate "Vroooommm" noises.

Oh, my little peanut, there are so many wonderful things happening right now. I wish I could bottle you up and save you forever! We love all the new things you're doing and learning and can't wait to see what's next!
Lots of love,
Mama

She sounds pretty amazing. I'm sure it is hard to take the time to write it all down and experience it all. Love the blog and the great photos. She's as beautiful as her mom. :)
