Put that camera down and dance!
Todd and I spent this weekend at Grand Targhee at the fourth annual Targheefest.
This is the first summerin five years I haven't had to work Targheefest or the Bluegrass Festival taking photos for the Teton Valley News or freelance. I worked really hard on getting in the mindset that I was there to take it all in and enjoy it, not document the festival. So, I only took my SLR one day and really enjoyed the whole weekend with close friends, great weather and of course amazing music.
Martin Sexton played the 6:00 set on Friday night. I'd photographed him in the past so I just enjoyed his amazing vocal stylings. Later on that evening our friends Nicole and Makayla arrived (they came down from Bozeman, MT) and we rocked out to Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Soul Stew Revival featuring special guest Scrapomatic.
Derek Trucks is simply amazing.

His wife, Susan Tedeschi is a force to be reckoned with. They have such an awesome setup. Traveling together and making amazing music across the world (for at least part of the year). They are both involved in many different music projects. So much talent!

This is Mike Mattison, vocalist for the Derek Trucks Band and Scrapomatic.

Love her tongue in this one!

Saturday was a wonderful day filled with all kinds of music. Some of my favorites were Priscilla Ahn and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. If you ever get a chance to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals live, go! They put on an amazing show! That girl can rock!
Todd enjoyed the day...his shins enjoyed the sun a bit too much!

This is Nicole and her daughter Makayla. We went for a hike to cool off in the afternoon. There are still a ton of wildflowers blooming at Targhee.

We bundled up as soon as the sun went down because it gets pretty chilly at 10,000 feet.

Sunday was another great day. We ended up sitting with a ton of friends and relaxing in the shade.
Zoe and Own relaxed in a neighboring hammock.

Fun kiddos!

Chris and Toad enjoyed a beer.

Beautiful Kisa kickin' it Targhee style.

Our Sunday tree-shaded view.

The highlight of the day was Lyle Lovett and his large band.
I shot this with our little point and shoot camera.

I'd already photographed him a few years ago so I spent the concert dancin' my little toes off!

Bek, I wish you were here too!! We miss you both so much! Can't wait to meet the little guy/gal and take them to some festivals! How you feeling this evening?
We live in Teton Valley Idaho, the valley below the western side of the Tetons. It takes us about 20-30 minutes to get to the ski hill.
