ONE YEAR OLD!!!Dear Wyatt,
You turned one year old today! In some ways it is hard to believe that we are parents to a one year old, but remembering where we were one year ago seems like such a long time ago. It seems unreal that you have gone from this:
to this, in only twelve short months:
This first year of being a parent hasn't been a cake walk. The loss of sleep, not knowing why you're crying or what you might want, the uncertainty with every decision we make regarding you and how to take care of you. There have been a lot of interrupted nights of sleep and lots of blow-outs and spit-ups to clean up.
But for every kind of not so fun thing we have experienced with you, there are a million of awesome things. Every smile, giggle, and sneaky laugh that we experience by far out shadow the stinky, sleepy, and sloppy moments. We are having so much fun with you and can't wait to see what our world evolves into as you continue to grow and change.
Alright, enough of that sappy stuff for now - we've got a party to talk about! Your fun-filled and action-packed first birthday weekend is drawing to a close. We have enjoyed a great weekend with lots of family time. Your first birthday party was a great success, if I do say so myself! You rested up for the big event with a long nap...maybe you slept so long so that you could make an entrance since you were the guest of honor and all...
But you finally woke up to a house full of people who had come to help you celebrate!
You were happy to get your munch on (we made sure we had some nutrition in that belly before we let you dive into the cake).
You and Charlie had to endure the paparazzi before opening presents. (You may have been bribed into cooperation with the remote control.)
Then it was family picture time...
With your Meme -
With your Nana, Mama Toni, and Meme -
With your Aunt 'Nita -
With your Papa Bill and Grandpa (with you & Papa Bill making the same face at the camera!)
Needless to say, by the time picture time with Mommy and Daddy rolled around, you were kind of over it.
But then came presents and then CAKE!
Meme surveys the damage while you try to look cute and innocent.
I'd say that you did a pretty good job.
And today, which is your actual birthday, we spent enjoying brunch and more family time before everyone had to go their separate ways. This afternoon we took a trip to pick out some pumpkins.
You're getting to be sooo big and busy! I know you will be walking before we know it. This past year has been the best and we can't we are enjoying every minute of watching you grow up!
We love you SO MUCH.
