Hotel accommodations

Alison hasn't called the wedding off yet, although she did come close over the weekend during our efforts to register for the wedding. Said event occurred at the Cherry Hill, NJ Crate & Barrel in the linens section. I thought it was silly to get a tablecloth for a table we don't have or even know what will look like when we do get one. Alison did not agree. Fortunately, there were small children nearby so Alison quickly put away her brass knuckles. You will not presently find a tablecloth on our registry.

As a consequence of our tablecloth squabble, I found myself saying a lot of, "yes dear, that would be fine," as the registry marathon wore on. No, the teal lampshade was not my first choice, but I managed to nix the wicker wine rack, pineapple bookends, and pink floral bathroom mat. To Alison’s credit she picked none of these items, but we had difficulty picking items we both liked and that are practical. At the end of our first outing we have roughly ten items on our registry excluding the teal lampshade.

I am supposed say something about hotel accommodations (or out come the brass knuckles I am told). We have rooms reserved at the Society Hill Sheraton. The hotel is located in the historic part of Philadelphia and is 5 blocks from the site of our wedding ceremony and reception. We will arrange for a shuttle from the hotel to the ceremony and guests can call an airport shuttle for a small fee. We will post details and directions as the wedding gets closer, but I'll include the hotel contact info so guests can begin to book their rooms. Say you are a part of the WHITER/HEINZEL WEDDING GROUP and you will get a discount if you reserve your room prior to September 26th. http://www.sheraton.com/SocietyHill phone 215.238.6000. For those of you driving in on Sunday, the ceremony will begin at 4:30.

1) You're a fast learner, Randy! Glad to see you know that "Yes, dear, that would be fine" is to be your response of choice for just about EVERY situation you and Alison find yourselves in! Keep using it and everybody will be happy!

2) Thanks for this important info!
Your mom has given you some terrific advice! This would be a good time to "listen to your mother"!!
Can't wait to see you both soon!

3) Society Hill Sheraton- that sounds all fancy pants. I bet the rooms are going to be at least $70/night.

We loved your save the date notices - very cute! Did you design them?

4) The rooms are just slightly over $70/night. Alison and I merely "supervised" the design of the save the date notices- it was one, Dave Heinzel who was largely responsible for their creation. He has some fancy site out there on the internets or something.

5) Yeah, I figured the hotel rooms would be more like $75 a night, seeing how the hotel's in downtown Philadelphia and all.

Cool, I didn't know Dave designed those. He did a fantastic job.

7) In an interesting coincidence, I'm pretty sure the fancypants Society Hill Sheraton is where Peace Corps had us meet up and spend the night before heading off to Morocco. (Thank you, taxpayers!)
It's a SUPER location! It's possible to take a train from the airport to relatively near the hotel :)
