The Humzoo Century

You are reading my 100th blog here on Humzoo!!!! WOOHOO....or is it more like HUMZOOOOO!!! Wow. That's 100 different ramblings. Doesn't seem that long ago I hit the big 5-0 mark.. Another big thanks to the Humzoo masterminds for making this site easy to use and awesome.

On my 50th blog I didn't really blog about anything...but today I would like to point out the end of an era in California. After nearly two years of sitting in trees in protest...the UC Berkley tree sitters have finally come down.

Well...they didn't come down by choice. The tree sitters decided to climb into some redwoods after it was announced UC Berkley was chopping down a grove of trees to make way for a new sports complex. Last weekend....the school chopped down nearly 40 trees....only leaving two left...one being occupied by the sitters. And yesterday...the stand off came to a close by University Police constructing scaffolding around the trunk....

So...after making international news...it's over. I think it is prolly time for a shower.

1) We all know that Berkley is seat of Liberalism; consequently, you would have "Tree Huggers" standing in the way of "Progress". Other places, they would be given so much time to leave or they would be cut down with the trees.

3) It is sad, Hayley, and I completely "get" the protestors point; however, wouldn't it have been better to come to a compromise vs. violence? Perhaps some of the trees would have survived a move to a new location or at least, new saplings could have been planted to replace them. I don't know. It's hard for both sides.

Happy 100, Ben!!

5) Happy day for Ben...sad day for the trees. I wish the trees could've been saved somehow.
