Stimulating my Debt

I just checked my bank account....and it appears I will have my government rebate check by tomorrow. Which means....tomorrow I will be immediately writing a check to Mastercard...who I owe some moolah to.

These checks were suppose to stimulate our economy and save the day. 4 dollar gas and high food prices stole its thunder. My question to you Humzoo nation....what did you end up doing with you checks? Did you actually spend it on gas and food.....or buy a little something special? Take it to the casino? Buy 300 mega million tickets (jackpot is near 200 million)? Buy a zebra? I am curious.

1) I haven't gotten mine yet but it will basically reimburse me for what I had to pay in Federal and State Income Tax payments. :)

2) We haven't received ours yet but like LGrant it will just cover half of what we paid out and we will apply it to existing bills. Nothing special just paying off some debt. Can't go shopping-can't afford the gas to get there so we will recycle our own stuff:>

3) So much for it helping the economy with revenue. All it will do is pay our debts for our stressful cost of living. :)

4) Ours was deposited into our account today and is ready for spending. We lucked out because there's two of us and we have two kids, so we got just under two grand. Unfortunately I have a stack of bills next to my computer that are starting to collect dust, so I might just have to pay some of them soon. I have enjoyed riding to work a lot lately, so the high gas prices don't bother me so much. We are going to try and force ourselves to spend at least a little of the new money on something fun, but we don't know just what yet.

5) My husband and I already have it, I think and so far the plan is to save it. Although my husband has been talking about an iPhone, so the saving thing may only last a few months. ;-)

6) I could speculate on what I would use the money for if I was getting any but I'm not so why bother.

11) Ummmm...Isn't it tax fraud to claim your fiance as a dependent?

12) We will be spending ours on our daughters braces (well it won't cover the full amount, but a nice down payment).....this couldn't have come at a better time! We are gonna have to do some serious figuring if our son is going to need them.....

14) MIne went into a money market account which will later be going towards the down payment on the new house. Oh, and I'm going to try to by as many tickets to the Illinois State Fair Fergie concert as I can.

15) I sent most of mine to my sister's mother-in-law to pay for a plane ticket and hotel to Las Vegas. I will be going in September. And believe me, I will blog all about this one. We went back in Sept '06 and it was the best time!

16) Ours is going straight to the contractor to finish that silly basement remodel we started in January, which ended up costing more than we'd planned, and thus ended in March when we ran out of money. Live and learn...

18) My government check was a boomerang. As soon as I got it, I used it to pay a significant portion of the sales tax on my car.

20) Most of it has been spent on paying bills - but some of it will go to pay for the gas to get to and from Bonnaroo in June. Thanks W.
