Bandwagon Sox Fan
As Springfield suffered from more severe weather...the skies cleared up during my parasitic business trip...and it was time for me and my good friend Pat Muha to head to the South side of Chicago and check out THE SOX!!!!!!

The luck of Pat Muha
I know Pat from college. He is a Yalie who happened to live with one of my best friends from high school. A few cases of beer (a low estimate) while at several college parties and a bike trip across the US later...we've become very good friends. We will even be traveling to Europe this summer. So his name should frequent this blog in the next couple months.
For some unknown reason...Pat has amazing luck in everything he does in his life. He does most things at the last possible second....with no worries...and things always work out. Here are some things that happened to prove this is phenomenon not a coincidence in the last couple of days:
-While driving to downtown Chicago to meet one of Pat's friends we picked a random street to park on...which we did for free....and were within a couple blocks of where this kid lived. All we knew was he lived "downtown".
-We accidentally left not one....but two windows down in the car and it our belongings went untouched.

THE GAME
In the morning I didn't think there was going to be a game since it was raining. But the rain stopped...and besides it being a little cool and foggy it was nice weather to hang out.
While arriving at US Cellular field we slowly approached a parking lot. Stadium parking was $22. We piled together our money....we had $21.65. Our car rolled up to the gate....I explained we were 35 cents short....the response. "well you can't park here."
Really....your parking is $22 and you won't let 35 cents slide by? We had to go find a ATM.
We ended up in a parking lot run by some shady Italian guys. I had brief thoughts that this is now what the mofia does....and most likely makes more money parking cars than their "old business." The choice of parking made me feel good. Take that WHITE SOX OWNERS....we supported the locals! A short walk...and a long wait for tickets we entered the bal park just in time for the first pitch.

I kept trying to take pictures of the fireworks they kept setting off....with little luck. I only had one successful picture.

The game quickly turned into a home run derby...mostly by the white sox.

Early in the game....security threw out a Royals fan for I believe throwing a home run ball back on the field. Not really sure why that is a big deal. The security guards were cheered on by fans proving that mob rule does work.

The sox quickly took a 6-0 lead before winning 9-5 (I think).
Pat and I walked around the park. Had a couple $6.50 brews. Went to a kiddie section in left field before realizing we had no kids with us...nor were we children.

And then my White Sox experience was over....just like that. It was a lot of fun. Nice ball park...but not the nicest I've been to. Actually it's only number three on my list after Yankee Stadium and AT&T Park in San Fran.

Good time. I love Chicago. Now I'm back in Springfield. Glad to see it didn't blow away while I was gone.

Sorry to be annoying. ;-)
Hope yours gets more reasonable soon. I don't expect my happiness to last but I'll take it as long as I can!
