Freecycling Sangamon

Did a piece today on http://www.freecycle.org! Not only is the website a very awesome thing...but I was treated to a Free Cycle Party today at Sangamon County moderator Tracy's house.
Got to meet a bunch of cool people who love giving away stuff for free! I tend to think of myself as a green want to be. The website allows you to be a member and then take people's used things.
I was a little thrown off today when I walked in to Tracy's house and there was a 60 inch plasma HD TV box in the room with all the Freecyclers.....
Tracy pointed out a young lady who is in high school and goes ""I am giving this to her for her school play...""
After a few seconds I realized there was nothing in the box.....and she was using the cardboard.....but it had me going for a second.
This is my second "Web" story while at WICS. The first of course being about http://www.spfldbloggers.com which featured one of the creators of this site. He had me at hello.
I had the options of doing this story about recycling or a story about how the Springfield police have shot a second dude in 3 months.....I chose to stay green.
I tend to love these online stories. Our weekend anchor Ashley says I may have the "online" beat going. We'll see what other online stories I can dig up in the next few months....I have a good one set for July already (thinking ahead).
HUMZOO VACATION:
After becoming a humzoo-er I've caught the blogging bug that has been absent since last summer when i blogged my adventure across the grand U-S of A which can be read here. http://benjaminbikes.blogspot.com But.....i have a guest here for the next week who I don't think is going to appreciate me typing away on my computer. So.....I'll see everyone in a week! I'm looking forward to my trip to St. Louis. Hopefully I'll have some cool pictures upon my return
UPDATE: The number one seeded Quinnipiac lady bobcats blew their best chance of making the dance in a decade by losing today in the Semi's....all I have left now is the hockey team.

1) I love freecycle - I have managed to clean out my house without filling up a landfill and even got a free piano in return.

2) Thanks for choosing the freecycle story instead of the other choice!

3) It's an awesome concept that Nickie and I were briefly involved in (the concept part- it was a riff on Freecycle, called FreeBay)...I love the idea of bartering, and this just takes it to a new level. Need-a-penny-take-a-penny on a much larger scale.
