Connecticut is a long word...but short weekend.
So this weekend I went home to my beloved Connecticut...where I grew up and went to college. But you may already know this from Amber. This Humzoo world is pretty interconnected.
This weekend was awesome. I spent a lot of it in a bathing suit which is pretty cool. And it was great seeing everyone. Here are some of the highlights.
We spent the afternoon Saturday at one of my favorite swimming holes....Mt. Tom Pond. One of my best friends...who happens to be a serial murder Ryan met us there.
Ok...he hasn't killed anyone...that I know of. A few more buddies showed up and we dove in the Lake. Eve my old college roommate Jay.
Matt and Mike decided to take out the canoe on the Lake.
The Lake that is called a pond. I have never understood that. We decided to dry off and head back to my house.
Back at the homestead...I got to admire Handelman Falls. It was a project I started a couple summers ago. I dug the whole for the pond. Some "pro" finished the job. And my parents have done an amazing job trying to get it in Home and Garden.
We noticed my mom has been giving the plant life Steroids. Everything was big an beautiful.
That night I had a bunch of friends over my parents house. People came from as far as NY and Boston to visit. I'm touched.
On Sunday my parents couldn't pass up a Humzoo moment of taking a picture of where the driveway meets the garage.
Ok...I lie....actually they are taking a picture of this cute shrew.
Unfortunately for the Shrew...I found it's dead corpse near Handelman falls the next day.
I think we might be closing in on a suspect.
Sunday afternoon was spent on a lazy river...no...not at an amusement park...a real Lazy river....the Farmington River. The problem was it wasn't so lazy. A few minutes after pulling into the parking lot an ambulance shot by us. We got on our tubes and floated by a man who looked like he was pretty badly injured. We think he may have hit his head in one of the few rapids on the trip. Moments later, just as he was out of view a life star helicopter flew over head. I hope he is ok. As for our friends...we stayed safe and had a really good time out on the water.
There was even romance.
.
I said my goodbyes to some buddies...who I'm not sure when I'll be able to see again...and headed with the rents to eat my fav meal.
A chimichanga at Wood's Pit BBQ. Hands down the best Chimi in America.
The trip winded down with dinner with my friend Trav, Emily, Amber, and her new roomie Steve and it was back to my new home in Springfield.
I miss the rolling hills of Connecticut...but pumped to check out this thing in Springfield called the State Fair.

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun and great times with friends. Isn't it a NE thing to call lakes "ponds"?
Looks like a nice visit; have fun at that state fair...it's a doozy!
