Obama to announce VP in Springfield?

This is for certain....Obama is coming to Springfield on Saturday...and has the old state capitol reserved.

Speculation is he will announce his VP selection on the steps of where it all began. Get ready for an International Media Zoo downtown this weekend.

UPDATE:

It is looking good that he will name the VP here.

6) Dang! The Deaton/Heinzel group has plans to be in Chicago that day. We'll have to think this over and see what we can do, if anything. One thing is for certain - it won't be nearly as cold as it was a year and a half ago.

7) I just don't want it to be an old white guy, but I'm afraid that's the direction he will go. And, hey, I like old white guys - I'm married to one - but they've had their turn (a LONG turn!) and I'm not too happy with the results.

22) I was thinking that with all of the media swarming Springfield Saturday Ben might get his big break. But it's o.k. with me if he is the press secretary instead. He will have to leave Sprinfield though.

23) Obama had better announce something and announce it soon. He has fallen behind McCain by 5 points. First time McCain has had the lead. I think his drop is directly related to his poor showing (that question is above my paygrade) at the Rick Warren debate....I wonder if Obama supporters are getting nervous about old Jack McCain.

24) Hillary is his only choice: however, she will not get the nomination. (He can't trust she and Bill) lConsequently, after the Two Days of Clinton in Denver, don't surprised, if she doesn,t do much to support him and Bill will be attacking o**** in public every day. Hillary has designs on 2012 and she will banking her money and making the necessary connections for that run.

25) slumping going into the convention is a really, really bad place to be in- but that's where Barack finds himself. And McCain aims to steal his thunder by announcing his own VP the day after Obama accepts the nomination.

Obama needs a dynamite pick-
Hillary qualifies, but too much baggage to pick her
Sabellius (Gov. Kansas) might work, though he wouldn't win Kansas
Kaine (Gov. Virginia) is overrated- rode the coattails of Mark Warner and will be easily tagged as inexperienced like Obama- though Obama is spending the night at his house this week.
Biden- shores up the national security credentials that are seriously lacking
Bayh- a well-respected Senator, but too much at odds philosophically?
Richardson- would this really excite anyone?

Rick- the Saddleback forum was a huge win for McCain. Everyone thought he'd look weak and cold in light of Obama, and instead, he stole the show.

26) I also should say, the recent conflict with Russia, which appears to have gotten worse this afternoon with their threats to respond with more than diplomacy to our defense of Poland, will tilt things much more heavily toward McCain. And, contrary to what some have said, this isn't playing the politics of fear, this is just simply reality. Russia is a threat again to peace-loving, free nations.

27) John McCain is going to lose badly in November. He is absolutely no match for my man Obama, and the Hillary supporters will come around, and that will change things severely. They are still democrats, no matter how bitter. If I'm wrong, I'm moving away from this crazy place and will watch the apocalypse from a sunny beach in Central America. Good Luck!

29) I disagree that the Russia conflict is to McCain's benefit isn't fear motivated. Just about everything America does is fear motivated, and the threat of a powerful, possibly communist Russia comes in pretty high on the list of scary things for Americans that are motivated by that sort of thing.
Democrats are optimists that see the future and the world as a possibility for making things better for human civilization.
Republicans want to live out their fantasies of living in the movie, 'Red Dawn'. What are all those guns for if not to use them on communists that threaten our idealistic lives from 5,000 miles away?
Russia doesn't have a pot to piss in right now. They do have crazy people running their country, which seems to be a common theme lately.

30) Nancy: Fox News and other news media are saying it will be in the next two days, and speculation is that it is Joe Biden.

31) It must be true then...since it's so balanced and all. And accurate...don't forget that. And fair...All of the things that are great about America. And flag graphics...that really sets it apart...and improves honesty in reporting.

33) Who started this "I'm leaving America if..." craze? Was it Alec Baldwin? Or was it Barbara Streisand?

Fear motivated is different than playing the politics of fear. You've accused Bush of making up his case for Iraq to scare people; this is different. This is without a doubt real. Russia not only has the aforementioned pot; they've got nuclear missiles and just invaded a sovereign nation without even a hint of a good reason, and threatened another. They bulldozed over half of Georgia in just a few days, causing the Georgian President to do nothing but shout out his helplessness.

Matt, I know I haven't seen you for a while, but if you move to Central America, the prospects of catching up will get even lower, my friend :)

And, I should say, I don't think I've ever seen Red Dawn.

35) I can't stand Alec Baldwin or Barbara Streisand, so they haven't influenced my motivations. I have threatened to move away to a sunny, spanish speaking country many times even when things are good, so it is more of an excuse than a reason. I think we may be closer to each other if I move south of the border. Cuba's not very far from Florida, right. Ha!
