NEWS BLUES
I had a mountain dew just before I went on air today...bad move...I was jittery and wirey.and I blame it for the following mistakes.
Jerry Lambert our main anchor has the day off....A guy named Carl is filling in. Carl and our other Anchor Elisabeth tossed to me...."Abc newschannel 20's Ben Handelman has the story..."
I proceeded by saying....Jerry and Elisabeth....blah blah blah. I didn't even realize my mistake of calling Carl Jerry.
Mistake number two...Instead of saying 12th grade....I said 8th. A minor mistake in the scale of things (was not a very important detail)...but I'm sure the school I did the story thinks I'm an idiot. Another mistake I'm not sure why came out of my mouth.
No more Mountain Dew!

No more Mountain Dew!
I smell NEWS.
I know what you mean about that stuff. Years ago I helped work a concession stand at a Winston Cup race (eat your heart out, Betsy!) in Bristol, TN. I didn't drink soda/pop. Real health-food nut then. So was my friend, Cyn. We had nothing to drink but pop so we decided we'd drink Dew instead of Coke (in some bizarre mental derangement we figured lighter color--less caffeine!). We were high as kites all day. The only good news was we worked there for 12 hours straight (long story) and had all that frantic energy to keep us moving. :)
Don't Do the Dew next broadcast. :)
you're an amazing reporter...as the vp of the fan club...obviously second to the president leslie...i say you are great and eh luckily both the mistakes happend on the same day!
This morning on WGN-TV, Marcella Raymond forgot what town she was reporting from. "Live from Wilmette...Winnetka...where am I?"
