Blondie in Concert

Robbie got us tickets to see Blondie in concert. I was skeptical at first, but the show was actually really good. They are in the middle of their Parallel Lines 30 Year Tour, which has been all over the world, and made a stop in Louisville last night.

It was a gas.

The Great Ms. Harry came out in a little black dress and spike heels with a ballcap on. I am not sure what the cap said, but it looked stupid, and I was glad when she took it off, because then it really felt like I was watching Blondie perform. Kindof silly to cover up your signature feature at a concert.

After a few songs, she took off her spike heels and said, "Ooohhh... That's MUCH better." It was cute. Then she threw the shoes into the crowd and a bunch of 40-year old balding men in Ramones t-shirts fought over them.

I've been finding myself without my camera quite alot of late, so please excuse the phone pictures.

The first half of the set was all songs from Parellel Lines, and the crowd was up and dancing. I was really impressed with their live versions of the songs, although she sang Call Me and Heart of Glass an octave LOWER than the original version.

Debbie's gettin OOOOOLLLLD.

Bless her heart. She danced to the music and worked the crowd in her own little way, and they ate it up. She's still quite a showman.

It was a very entertaining show. The classics sounded great, and got the crowd going, and the new stuff sounded pretty good as well.

Well worth the trip downtown, and dinner at a mediocre Mexican place across the street from the venue. Oh, and the $6 parking.

1) I saw Blondie at Glastonbury a few years back and I thought they were great too. Debbie Harry really does put on a good show.
