Sign of the Apocolypse

Anheuser-Busch being sold to InBev for $52B

It's finally happening... I didn't think it would come to pass, but I was wrong.

I can't believe it. The whole city of St. Louis is crying a tear in their beer today. The really sick thing is, I just saw a commercial the other day with August Busch IV talking about how Budweiser is such an American icon, and they are all about the old USA.

Shah... right.

Selling out to the Belgians...

I hope Busch Stadium isn't re-named InBev Park...

1) At least they sold it to people that know how to make good beer, but I think it will go down as one of the great American sell-outs of all time. Shameful.

4) They still make Coors? I guess the $7 beers at the ballparks have kept them in business. It's certainly not because the make a delicious product.

5) I saw an interesting article on AOL (yes, still have an AOL account for my spam account!) about all the companies and buildings and, yikes, even sections of our highways being sold or leased to foreign companies. Made me think that if we aren't careful, we will be leasing the streets in front of our house from some German (just an example, not targeting the Germans!) company to get out and drive our cars one of these days. I guess I've had my head in the sand and had no idea we were leasing freeways and selling our American-icon buildings to foreign companies.

6) There's an interesting book called The United States of Europe by a guy called Reid. It touches on this issue and maintains that the USA is fast coming under the shadow of the united Europe. Very interesting.

8) dude, this is such BS. well, AB is sort of an American institution in that they waited until they could get more money before they totally sold out. Sadly, that is the American way a lot these days. Ten bucks says Grant's Farm is no more in 3 years. This effing sucks the worst that anything has ever sucked. Including the Alamo.
