1st Sewing Project

A very very good friend of mine, Miss Kris, just had a little baby girl. Quincy Adelaide.
I am really happy for her and her hubby. They are starting their life together in all the right ways!

She lives super far away though, so there is no way I will be able to visit any time soon. So sad...

So I have decided to send her lil bundle a hand-made gift. MADE WITH LOVE.

I took a trip to the fabric store last night and scouted out a pattern and some fabric. This will be my first major project, and I am excited and nervous at the same time.

I am making the wrap blanket thingy. I am really looking forward to starting my project. Can't wait to use my new toy!

If anyone has any advice on working with fleece and making baby stuff, please share!

I will send photos along the way!

1) Are you using the star fabric with the pink fabric? I like that together. No advice here since I can't sew, but I think you chose a good project.

2) Yep, stars on the outside, pink on the inside. Not TOO girly.

3) Soooo cute, Betsy!! I want to see all the pictures. I've never worked with fleece, so I don't know anything about that. But devote your full attention to your project and measure EVERYTHING...twice! I finished the cutest shirt last night complete with sleeves, but I mis-measured the boosie area. It doesn't fit...at all.

4) Can't wait to see it, Betsy. I'm in awe of people who can sew and that looks like a great project and your friends will cherish it more because you made it. Great idea!

6) That looks like a great project!

I haven't sewn for awhile, but from what I can remember fleece is pretty easy to work with, just a bit thick. Measure everything twice before you cut, and don't try to go too fast because it will bunch up on you and be annoying.

I love the stars! Very cute.

9) Seamstress is right. There should be no sewer of any kind near your cute baby bunting. My mom can do amazing things with sewing machine (like an entire wedding dress in 1 day!) but a can't sew to save my life. Good luck!
