The Animal Shelter
My co-worker Sue has inspired me to become a better person. So I am using some of my free time to volunteer at the animal shelter. It's only supposed to be 8 hours per month for the requirement, but after my first visit, I have a feeling I will be there alot more than that.
Saturday, I got to play with some puppies for the first time. That's my job. Playing with puppies. Um... seriously?
I could do this all day!
First, we took a tour of the place, and Sue visited the kitten room.

The scene reminded me of the Family Guy when Peter gets body spray that attracts sick cats....

You're the one with the cat on your head.
Then it was time to pick a couple of pups to hang out with for an hour or so.
We surveyed the kennel, and the two best looking pups were rearin' to go and jumping like crazy men.
We brought the two dogs out and waited our turn for the outdoor area where you can unleash the dogs and play with them with some toys and junk in a fenced in area.

Here I am wrangling the pups and trying to get them to sit still while people and animals and other creatures walked past.

The grassy area was set up pretty nice. It was super hot out, so they had two baby pools filled with water for us to splash around in.
Here are the pups testing the water.

The poor little guys didn't even really know how to run after a ball, so we had to kindof teach them how to play. It was so much fun just running around with the dogs and playing with them. You can tell they are really enjoying themselves. Poor things, cooped up all day.

One of our dogs was a lab mix and one was a gorgeous rottweiler. Yes, gorgeous. I want him. We realized about halfway through that we didn't pay attention to their names, so we renamed them.
Hookah and Hoagie.
Here's Hoagie getting a good scratch on the head. He was my favorite.

I can't wait to put in all sorts of hours at this place. Seriously, anyone who lets me play with puppies is alright in my book.
Look at em. Soakin up the attention.
:)

I LOVE PUPPIES!
