Those Were the Days

My visit with JDI and K8 has just ended, and it was a wonderful evening.

Here we are with our delicious fruit-flavored beers that the Days brought.

They have left us to go shopping for flashlight batteries, strong shoes, sweaters and ghost repellent. I wish them well on their ghost hunting journeys tomorrow night.

Before dinner, we watched some awesome episodes of Ninja Warrior, which is an excellent show. Lots of laughs.

Here's Robbie enjoying some corn on the cob and Pittsburgh tea that his parents brought down.

I prepared a vast array of food items, including some Kentucky delicacies like Benedictine sandwiches and Derby Pie. This was my first attempt at Derby Pie, and it actually tasted quite good. JDI said it tasted like a fresh cookie out of the oven. I took it as a complement.

After dinner, JDI and K8 got to watch Robbie and me draft football players for our fantasy league. I hope they were entertained, because I have never done this before, and every time it was my turn, I had a 2-minute panic attack.

I am so glad I got to meet JDI and K8 tonight. I am telling you man, this Humzoo thing is amazing. I have made lots of new friends, and gotten to know old friends again, all because of this little website.

A wise woman once said, "These are the Days to remember." I'd like to think she was talking about K8 and JDI.

3) Yay! Humzoo totally brings people together. That pie looks fantastic. I'm gonna google it.

Okay, I googled it, and now I would like a few pieces. Did you put bourbon in yours?

4) McCain only picked her for short-term political gains. Abortion is not birth control. BranHawk, you're totally mistaken.

Oh wait, sorry. Guess this is a different kind of blog, and my standard responses will not work.

So glad you got to spend time today with the Days. Every Day is a nice Day, and any day you spend with a Day is a day well spent.

6) Sounds like another great Humzoo moment with folks. That Derby Pie looks awesome. I think I have a recipe for one somewhere--never tried it yet. I'm not a big pie baker--mostly because I bake for such a large group a pie isn't large enough. :)

Great job with the Kentucky entertainment! You are becoming quite the stopping off station for Humzooers, Betsy!

9) Courtney, my recipe didn't call for bourbon, but I think bourbon is always a good idea.

10) How was the beer? My wife brought home some of that, and I haven't found the huevos to tried it yet. She got the Tuscan Orange Grapefruit.

Where's Robbie's Steelers shirt?

11) He dressed up for company :)
The beer was good. I only tried the pomegranate. I will try the orange grapefruit one today and let you know how it is.

12) Ah, found the huevos, they were in the wife's purse... Tried the Tuscan Orange Grapefruit, it starts out tasting like a wine cooler, then hits you with a hint of beer aftertaste. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Then she came home with the Pomegranate Raspberry yesterday and I tried that one. That one I didn't really like. Now for the Lime Cactus.

I think I'll stick with my Amber Bock though. Mmmmm
