My Latest and Greatest Craft Project

My co-worker Little Sue and I decided to make a gift for our boss as a "thank you" at the end of the event. We worked really hard on it, about 3 months in the making, and I think it's fantastic.

I took photos along the way to show you guys what we did.

Part of our job in the corporate merchandise department is to approve company logos to go onto various items like caps and polo shirts. The company will physically stitch out the logo onto a piece of fabric and send it to us.

So, from the past 4 years of events, my boss had a large amount of these logo swatches amassed. One day, we were instructed to get rid of all the old files, so we shredded everything, except the swatches...

So, we decided to make a lovely quilt from the swatches, so she will always have something to remember us by!

Here are the swatches sewn together into one patch for the front of the quilt...

Here I am, stitching away. This was REALLY hard to do, since all the swatches were already so small.

We made one special patch of all the event logos that my boss has worked. We had to request patches to be stitched by the vendors so we could include all of them!

After alot of sewing, and some broken needles, here is the finished product!!!

Next project to tackle... A T-SHIRT QUILT! I've decided to do it myself...

2) What a great idea to take advantage of something you already have and avoid the waste to toss them as well as the great notion to use them in a quilt that will really be a great memory quilt. Good job!!! Looks like you did a terrific job on it. I can't imagine all the hours it took.

3) That' awesome Betsy!

I, too, want to do a t-shirt quilt. Eventually, I'd like to take the kids first outfits and make something... either for each of them or for me when they leave home and i miss them desperately.

6) Great idea! And it turned out sooooo nice. What is the fabric that is cream/white and red. Looks like little people or little scissors. What is that?

7) that's so nice!
My mom always said she is going to make us a t-shirt quilt with all of the shirts from the teams we were on, and the volunteer things and college events where you get free shirts to remember the events by.

I can't wait to see your next project!

10) Gosh, that must have been hard, I know how stiff that fabric is. What a thoughtful and creative gift. I have a few Tshirts that I have been meaning to make pillows out of. I am not sure how that material would work in a quilt since it stretches so much. Would you put a backing under each square?
