Seventh Inning Stretch

For more than a decade, the Chicago Cubs have featured celebrity Seventh Inning Stretch singers. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about that. Some days I wish they would just play music and move the game along. Other days I think it's hysterical when they roll out someone you never imagined would be singing.

My biggest issue is that most people don't know the actual lyrics to "Take Me Out to the Ball Game". Just a few moments ago, Buddy Guy was the singer. His version was fine musically, but he did botch the lyrics. I couldn't help but laugh.

He sang: "I don't care if you ever come back."

The correct line: "I don't care if I never get back."

If you're curious, here is the full original version with verses that are never sung these days.
