Best seats in the house
This weekend, the Cubs and White Sox hopped aboard the CTA Red Line and headed south to US Cellular Field. So far, the Cubs dropped the first two games of the second series. At worst, the two teams will split the season series, 3-3. Still, the Cubs have an opportunity to finish 4-2.
Since this weekend's games were played at US Cellular Field, I wanted to reminisce about a unique experience I had there during the 2007 season. I had the opportunity to watch the game from the visitor's radio broadcast booth for the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the White Sox on Friday, May 25. That Friday was also 70s Night.
The Tampa Bay Rays radio play-by-play announcer, Dave Wills, is a fellow graduate of Elmhurst College. Each season, he arranges a unique experience in exchange for a small donation to the college's Bluejay Backers fund. For the first two innings, we sat in Dave's two box seats. At the end of the second inning, Susan and I were taken up to the broadcast booth. While the game was underway, we could watch from behind the microphones. Between half innings, we had the chance to exchange stories about baseball and Elmhurst College. Susan even donned her replica 1970s Sox cap. Dave threw out the occasional story about Old Main, classes in the basement of Hammerschmidt Chapel, and so on. I'd love to obtain a copy of that broadcast.
Anyway, the final game just started, so it's time to head to the television.

1) Trammel should have brought in a lefty to pitch to Thome in the 8th. Lou would have and that cost a chance at a comeback.
