MLB 2013 Game #7: Indians vs. White Sox
Barring a complete Detroit Tigers implosion, the American League Central race is over. The Cleveland Indians sit in second place, five games off the pace with an elimination number of 10. With two wild card spots still in play, the Indians are alive and well just 1.5 games behind the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays for the second AL wild card spot. The Chicago White Sox are in last place in the division, 27 games out of first place.
So that brings us to U.S. Cellular Field. For the sake of full disclosure, I only bought tickets for today's game to see the Chicago White Sox wear their 1983 throwback uniforms. Little did I realize that the game could still impact the American League playoff picture. I didn't make to as many games as usual this season (note: I did attend Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals), so why not make them count.
The Indians (80-68, .541) will send Zach McAllister (7-9, 4.11 ERA) to the mound. The White Sox (58-90, .392) will counter with Chris Sale (11-12, 2.90 ERA).
Will the White Sox finish the season 100 or more losses?
Update - After a four-hour rain delay, we opted for the free tickets in April 2014. This game was played, but we watched it on TV.
