Updated Baseball Reading List

Santa Claus was kind this year and added to my ever-expanding baseball library. This Christmas he brought an eclectic mix of baseball books to launch 2016. Topics range from legendary, but tragic figures from the past; to sabermetrics; to the game's first wave of integration; baseball north of the border; and a touch of new age. I still have stacks of books to occupy my time, including several non-baseball novels, but here are the latest additions.

1.) Big Data Baseball: Math, Miracles and the End of a 20-Year Losing Streak by Travis Sawchik

2.) Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty by Charles Leerhsen

3.) Outsider Baseball by Scott Simkus

4.) 1954: The Year Willie Mays and the First Generation of Black Superstars Changed Major League Baseball Forever by Bill Madden

5.) Up, Up and Away: The Kid, The Hawk, Rock, Vladi, Pedro, Le Grand Orange, Youppi!, The Crazy Business of Baseball, and the Ill-fated but Unforgettable Montreal Expos by Jonah Keri

6.) It Was Never About the Babe: The Red Sox, Racism, Mismanagement, and the Curse of the Bambino by Jerry M. Gutlon

7.) Baseball as a Road to God: Seeing Beyond the Game by John Sexton with Thomas Oliphant and Peter J. Schwartz
