Music research

Last week, a group of my friends drove to the White Sox game. While driving there, we were listening to satellite radio. Our driver was showing off some of the options for stations. As we cycled through various stations, we made a joke that one of the stations could be "Songs that feature the band name in the title."

After a few moments of laughter, we started compiling a list. Unfortunately, our list wasn't too lengthy. No problem. Enough time passed that it was out of sight, out of mind. I received an email yesterday from one of my friends. He mentioned that he couldn't think of any additional songs for the list. All of this without going online and conducting a search.

Here's the weak list we developed:

Big Country - In a Big Country
Human League - Human (that's a stretch since it isn't the entire band name)
Queen - Killer Queen
The Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
The Traveling Wilburys - Wilbury Twist
Wham - Wham Rap (no idea how this even came up)

Unfortunately, that was it. Ugly list, isn't it? What songs are we missing? There certainly must be more.

1) I actually included this in a recent trivia night. There are a few that are perfect matches - Bad Company, Living in a Box, They Might Be Giants, Iron Maiden, etc...and I'm sure there are several that just include the name of the band in the song title. I'll try to come up with some others later.

2) I'm not sure if it counts because it was a spoof band: Bad News.

3) Living Colour had a song called "What's Your Favourite Colour?" on the "Vivid" LP.

Billy Joel had "Ballad of Billy the Kidd."

James Taylor did "Sweet Baby James."

4) I'm not a big fan, but I'm sure that there are a lot of rappers who name-check themselves in their songs, and possibly the title. Dre Day by Dr. Dre comes to mind.
