MLB 2018 Game #11: Nationals vs. CubsDespite having no offense yesterday, the Chicago Cubs (67-48, .583) battled to defeat the Washington Nationals (59-57, 5.09), 3-2, at Wrigley Field. Nationals starting pitcher, Jeremy Hellickson, held the Cubs hitless for 5 2/3 innings. In fact, other than a leadoff walk by Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, Hellickson was perfect into the sixth inning. After a series of walks and a clutch hit by Jason Heyward, the managed to even the score then rally and win the game.
This afternoon, the Nationals will start 31-year-old Tanner Roark (6-12, 4.21 ERA). The Cubs will answer with their 34-year-old ace, Jon Lester (12-4, 3.44 ERA).
The Cubs enter today's action with the most wins in the National League. Thanks to a late-inning rally against the Nationals on Friday, and the Atlanta Braves (63-50, .558) pounding the Milwaukee Brewers (66-53, .555) 10-1, the Cubs hold a three-game lead over the Brewers in the National League Central.
