MLB 2018 Game #12: Indians vs. White SoxI'll be cutting it close, but immediately following today's Chicago Cubs game, I am hopping on the CTA's Red Line with finally completing a crosstown doubleheader. Generally, the Chicago White Sox and Cubs don't play at home on the same day. Today just happens to be one of those rare instances with the Cubs playing the Washington Nationals at 3:05 p.m., and the White Sox hosting the Cleveland Indians at 6:05 p.m. If the Cubs played at their traditional 1:20 p.m. start, or the White Sox played at 7:10 p.m., this would not be such a rush.
Last night the White Sox (42-73, .365) beat the American League Central-leading Indians (64-51, .557), 1-0. The White Sox pulled off the victory when designated hitter, Daniel Palka, homered in the bottom of the ninth.
Tonight, the Indians will send 27-year-old Trevor Bauer (11-6, 2.25 ERA) to the mound. This will be the second time I watched him pitch this season. On June 13, Bauer surrendered three earned runs in his 7 2/3 innings pitched and was tagged with the loss. The White Sox will counter with 36-year-old James Shields (4-13, 4.50 ERA).
