Are you on the list?

No, I am not talking about the upcoming season of Heroes. Though I can't wait for that show to return to NBC in the fall.

On Saturday, I attended Green Fest in Elmhurst's Wilder Park. It was a small event with eco-friendly vendors displaying their products, tips and tricks. As we walked up the street, I noticed that Elmhurst Toyota had a few vehicles lined up on Prospect Avenue. One of the cars was a red Prius, the exact color I was looking for.

Back in an April blog, I mentioned that I had my eyes on a red Prius. After a brief discussion, I added my name to the waitlist for a new 2009 vehicle. The downside is that the waiting period is three to four months. The upside is that it could be as little as one month.

By Christmas 2008, I will increase my mileage from 13 to 14 miles per gallon, to 45. Consider my carbon footprint lowered again.

You will be the second Humzoo owner of a red Prius. I am envious-it will be at least 4 more years before I can upgrade from my Escort, by then I am hoping I will be able to find a low mileage preused one.

Bill: In June, I took delivery of a 2009, Toyota Corola LE and it is a pretty good mileage performer. The only reasons that I did not consider a Prius was because they were too high priced and two they haven't been building the technology in the cars long enough to be proven, yet. My Corola is Red,also and I really like it.

Congrats Bill! Matt and I have a blue prius and love it. The technology has been proving itself everyday for us :)
I think it is a really well designed vehicle not only for it's fuel economy but for road warriors. We can pack it full and still have room for our 100lb lab mix. It has been a great addition.
It is soooo worth the wait.

We had a Cherokee that got maybe 15 mpg, so the payment for the new Prius wasn't too much more than the gas bill for the Jeep. I drive with my foot on the floor all of the time, and I still get 45. I'm saving up for the Tesla next. 0-60 in 3.something seconds with 0 emissions. Sweet! Only $100k.

My Explorer is getting anywhere from 13 to 14 mpg.
