MLB 2022 Game 17: White Sox vs. Orioles

Back to Oriole Park at Camden Yards this evening.

Tonight, the Chicago White Sox (63-61, .508) and Baltimore Orioles (64-59, .520) will close out their three-game series. After splitting the first two games, Baltimore winning the opener and Chicago winning last night, the two teams will face each other for the final time during the 2022 regular season.

The White Sox will send 35-year-old Lance Lynn (3-5, 5.30 ERA) to the mound. The Orioles will counter with 31-year-old Jordan Lyles (9-9, 4.61 ERA). Lyles made the start during my last visit to Camden Yards on Friday. He lasted four innings against the Boston Red Sox and allowed four earned runs on nine hits. He walked away with a no-decision during the 15-10 win for the Orioles.

Entering action today, the White Sox sit in a two-way tie for second place in the AL Central. Tied with the Minnesota Twins, they trail the front-running Cleveland Guardians by four games. Baltimore sits in fourth place, 11 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East. Both the White Sox and Orioles remain the hunt for the third and final AL wild card slot. Baltimore sits 2 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners (67-57, .540), and the White Sox are four back.
