MLB Game #15: Padres vs. Brewers

Normally, I try to post information about any baseball games that I attend in advance, but today was a bit different. I had to run around at a few events early this morning and early this afternoon.

This evening's starting pitchers were also the pitchers of record. Ben Sheets pitched a complete game shut out in a winning effort for the Brewers. Sheets improved his record to 13-7. The Padres starter, Jake Peavy, also pitched well, but recorded the loss to drop his record to 9-10.

Tonight's game was two hours and seven minutes long. The shortest Brewers game of the 2008 season. Tonight's victory also secured a winning season for Milwaukee.

As usual, the Cubs and Brewers are still atop the National League Central Division standings.

Chicago Cubs 86-56 --- (Division Magic Number - 17)
Milwaukee Brewers 82-60 4 GB (Wild Card Magic Number - 17)
St. Louis Cardinals 76-66 10 GB
Houston Astros 75-67 11 GB
Cincinnati Reds 63-79 23 GB (Eliminated from division contention)
Pittsburgh Pirates 58-79 26 GB (Eliminated from division contention)
