The Cubs still lead
Last night the Boston Red Sox hit four home runs against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the 2008 ALCS. Oddly enough, the Rays won in 11 innings to tie the series at 1-1.
Even though the Chicago Cubs are long gone from the National League playoffs, it was nice to know that the franchise still holds a playoff record. No, it isn't a record of futility. The 1984 Cubs still hold the record for most home runs hit by one team in an LCS. On October 2, 1984, the Cubs belted five home runs off the San Diego Padres in Game 1 of the 1984 NLCS at Wrigley Field en route to a 13-0 win. Too bad they won the first two games in Chicago and dropped the final three in San Diego.
The 1984 National League Eastern Division champions is still the best Cubs team during my lifetime.

This series was my first experience with the heartache that is being a Cubs fan.
